Salcoa Contracting is a second generation construction company established in 1986 by A.D. Powell.  Over the years, Salcoa has successfully completed multiple projects both big and small.  We have taken a step forward with each successful completion.  This is something we are proud to continue to this day – slow, steady and fanatically sound progression!  Within this progression, Salcoa has found a niche in the grocery retail industry.  Our experience and success in this industry provides Salcoa the confidence to market ourselves as grocery store retail construction experts.

 

 

 

With our specific expertise in grocery remodels, we feel we stand above our competition.  Salcoa has the ability to troubleshoot and repair the most complex of facility operation systems, while maintaining the ability to unclog a simple restroom area sink.

Danny is President and owner of Salcoa Contracting. He is also the qualifying agent for 6 of the 7 state contractor’s licenses held by Salcoa Contracting and also responsible for the day-to-day construction operations of the business.

Danny is a native to Salisbury N.C. born at Rowan Memorial Hospital in 1969. He is a proud Air Force veteran having served during Operation Desert Storm. 

After an honorable discharge from the Air Force in 1992 he slowly transitioned into the family business that his dad founded in 1986 as Salisbury Coatings & Metalizing, now known as Salcoa Contracting Inc. 

Under his father’s mentoring and guidance he rose to the position of V.P. of Construction in 2005. After the passing of Danny’s father in 2010 and with help and guidance from a former business partner, Don Julian, he is now President and owner of Salcoa Contracting.

Electrical and IT Division Manager

Lee studied Electrical Engineering at the University of Michigan, Dearborn. He spent 20 years with Siemens before coming to Salcoa Contracting in 2012. His entire 30-year career has been in the electrical construction and design fields, managing small to large projects. He has a vast knowledge of electrical applications from switch gear, PLC’s, Data room environments and site safety.

The past 7 years with Salcoa, Lee has been a project manager for the electrical and IT division. He lives in Mooresville, NC with his wife and two children.

Kevin is a Project Manager and Estimator for Salcoa Contracting. He is the qualifying agent for the State of Florida’s contractor license. Kevin holds a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management & Engineering Technology obtained from SUNY College of Technology, Alfred State. Kevin has been with Salcoa Contracting since 2012.

Kevin was born and raised in Oswego, NY, before moving to North Carolina in 2012. Kevin is married to his wife Ashley and together they have one child.

JJ has worked in the construction industry for more than 30 years. He studied Civil Engineering at LSU and soon began his career in construction before graduating. Although JJ has significant experience in both residential and commercial construction, the majority of his career has been spent in the commercial arena. He has managed projects ranging from Hospitals and Large-Box retail to Education facilities and Grocery stores. JJ holds both General Contractor and Electrical Contractor licenses in Tennessee. After being hired at Salcoa as a Field Superintendent in 2009, he quickly advanced to Project Manager and is now VP of Construction. Since joining Salcoa, he has worked on hundreds of grocery store projects including new construction, acquisition takeovers, existing remodels and brand strategy projects. JJ continues to embrace challenges with a positive attitude and an unmatched desire to achieve superior results.

Mike is division manager for Salcoa’s plumbing division, SCI Plumbing. Mike started with Salcoa Contracting as lead plumber in June 2010.  His role grew to division manager at the inception of SCI Plumbing in April 2013. Mike is the qualifying agent for 3 plumbing licenses held in, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. His leadership, determination and “Doing it Right” attitude has helped SCI Plumbing grow into a successful division for Salcoa Contracting. SCI Plumbing’s portfolio includes Food Lion start up/remodels, various retail stores and restaurants.

Josh is Project Estimator for Salcoa Contracting. He previously worked as a commercial electrician before entering the sales field for several years prior to joining the Salcoa Contracting team in January of 2019.

 Josh has recently attained his CPE (Certified Professional Estimator) through his course studies from San Diego State University. Josh plans to use his knowledge from these estimating courses, in conjunction with his sales experience and communication skills, to contribute to the growth of Salcoa Contracting, with a fresh and innovative vision.

Josh was born in Salisbury, North Carolina in 1985 and resides there with his wife, Lindsay. They have one Son, Deacon. Josh is proud and feels extremely fortunate to be working for a company as active and giving in the community as Salcoa Contracting.

Lauren Is the first smiling face you see when you walk into Salcoa Contracting and likely the voice you will hear when you call.

A native of Rowan County, she was born and raised in the small town of Faith, NC and attended Stanly Community College on a softball scholarship. Lauren began her career as a legal assistant for a firm in Cabarrus County. Her experience led her to her current role as administrative assistant at Salcoa Contracting. Beyond simply answering the phone and greeting visitors as they come through the door, she also helps process payroll along with other important admin duties. In Lauren’s spare time, she enjoys playing coed softball with her husband and spending time with her niece and nephew.

Taylor is the VP of Finance and Operations at Salcoa Contracting. Although he lacked a background in construction, Taylor quickly found a home at Salcoa when he joined the team in June 2017.

Taylor is from the small town of Burnsville, NC. He made the move to Salisbury in 2010 to play football and study Business/Accounting at Catawba College. After graduating from Catawba in 2014, he started his career in tax preparation and planning. He also furthered his education by obtaining a Master of Accounting degree from UNC Charlotte. Taylor became licensed as a CPA in early 2017.

Darrell joined Salcoa Contacting in January 2012. A NC Native, Darrell began his construction career after high school.  He has been involved in many areas of construction including new commercial/residential as well as remodels. After joining Salcoa as a Project Superintendent, Darrell’s position grew into the role of Project Manager. In this position, Darrell ensures projects are completed within time and budget scope. He is onsite regularly meeting with project owners as well as job superintendents. Darrell’s determination, leadership and sharp wit are a valuable contribution to Salcoa’s continued success.

Jo Ellen started with Salcoa in a temporary admin position in 2013. Her role shortly became permanent and grew into Salcoa’s Office Administrator.  Jo Ellen’s position includes managing daily administrative duties, overseeing payroll input, and processing accounts payable/accounts receivable.

Jo Ellen is a Rowan County native.  After graduating from UNCC, she started her career in Charlotte.  She slowly made her way back to Rowan County.  She is a devoted Mom to her children Julia and Jake.
